| Vidya Bharati started holding All India Sports
Meet in the year 1988-89 in order to commemorate the Birth centenary of
Param Poojya Dr. Hedgewar ji, the first Sar Sangh-chalak of Rashtriya
Swayam- Sewak Sangh. During these tournaments boys and girls of middle,
High & Sr. Sec. schools take part in three groups viz. Bal (VI to VIII),
Kishore (IX & X),and Tarun (XI, XII). Besides kabaddi & Kho-Kho, there
are about 60 items of athletics. A participant can take part in three events
only. These tournaments start from schools and go upto district,
circle, state, Regional & National levels. Participants
getting first position at regional level take part in national tournament.
It is heartening to mention, here, that many of our young boys and girls
who take part in National meets are trying to touch national records
in many events.
